9/19/2023 0 Comments Astellia royal gameplaydual wielding giving more affixes than two handed weapons, giving more proc on hit, and more Blizzard themselves struggled with proc on hit for years before they had to normalize it to proc per minute, adding complexity and server loads. Many games end up with a balance nightmare: xDYou're complaining about a design choice that has a trade off: Originally posted by Weilan:The game is so bad and mediocre that the Warrior's Sword and Shield are considered a single gear item taking up a single gear slot. I would write more and make more sense, but I have to go. They also dubbed a pretty sizable amount of text, and that's not cheap (ok maybe it was cheap, as most "actor/actress" are really bad xD). Gameplay settings also show attention to details as you can pretty much make the game fit your control style like a glove. Look at the design of the world: the environments are rich with attention to details, even too luxurious for the super old UE3. Now back to Astellia, it certainly wasn't as cheap to make as Aura Kingdom and the like. I do enjoy gear and itemization, but in games specifically designed around it: Torchlight 2, Last Epoch, Wolcen, Grim Dawn, etc. In that department, I swear by Guild Wars 2! Now let's make it clear, as apparently your main metric to rate MMOs is gear and itemization: I'm the opposite, I tend to flee extensive gear treadmill with layers upon layers of power ups. Aura Kingdom has a lot of content but most polished ? I strongly disagree. And the atrocious balance with life leech spitting in the face of tanks and healers! They started addressing that issue, what, 5 years later ? What a joke. Performances were some of the worst I have every seen: impossible to round up 30 mobs to AoE down as a team without FPS dropping to slide show. It's super fast and easy to dev new content for these. I don't remember the engine used to make these, but it wasn't much more elaborated than RPG Maker. Aura Kingdom and Twin Sage are super cheap games. It was the WoWest of all the WoW clone, and probably required a lot of dev time. Runes of Magic: a bit late to the party, the leveling areas were dead, the leveling process was super boring and, unfortunately, my interest died before I reach end game. My first major MMO was Ragnarok Online in 2002. I just pointed out the tradeoff of their design choice. I'm not defending Astellia, there's a lot of things I dislike, and I will probably stop playing. In fact there is a trend of most MMOs (and all other genres of games in general) since around 2012 - after that 90% of them have been lazy, poorly developed trash that mostly relies on graphic appeal in order to attract unsuspecting and green players who have zero experience in MMOs. that's well over 200 MMOs in total over the years and I can tell you, Astellia is one of the cheapest, laziest, worst, most generic and mediocre piece of trash I've seen. I've been playing MMOs since 2007, both B2P like WoW, LOTRO and pretty much every F2P Asian trash MMO since 2007 that you can think of. They have amazing itemization/gear system, talents and class progression is very unique and well thought out and most importantly - world and story are very well crafted for a F2P Asian trash game. These games actually feel the most polished of the bunch. Talisman Online is a tiny, obscure Chinese MMO that's been around probably since around 2006 and to this day it never shut down, never changed publisher, only kept releasing more content and evolving.Īnd then there are Aura Kingdom, Eden Eternal, Twin Saga and Grand Fantasia - very anime and cutesy WoW clones from the Taiwanese studio X-Legend. Sure Perfect World's world is really shallow and grindy, but the game world looks beautiful to this day and they keep releasing new content. Take something as primitive as the first Asian WoW clones for example:Įach of these games has put more details into the gear and itemization. There have been heaps of Asian F2P MMOs that are of higher quality and have put more care and detail into gear and itemization. Also Elyon and Lost Ark are both mediocre and boring trash, they will never do well if they launch here.Īnd lastly, if you're so dead set on defending this trash game (Astellia), then you really must have low standards. Can't really use as an example something that's not even officially launched in the West when YOU are in the WEST. That's because they screwed over everyone that bought the B2P Astellia on Steam last summer.Īlso Elyon and Lost Ark aren't even officially launched in the West. But no, they keep coming back to lash out. If anything, westerners should blame themselves. Name an Asian MMO that was able to pull this off.Īlso, how can they piss off westerners ? We are so desperate we're hyped for most P2W cash grabs Koreans throw at us. Originally posted by Ara:Free with a decent cosmetic cash shop ?
